Courtney's August Funnies

Courtney- "Momma, I want to watch Charlie and Lola" *in a Brittish accent* "Oh lovely, lovely, here we are with our doggie!"

(Me realizing I'm an ingredient short)
Me- "Oh, pooey."
Courtney- "Mommy.... who stinks?"

Me- "Hey, Court, come tell me a secret!" (i cup my ear with my hand)
Courtney- *places her ear on my ear and begins whispering*

(any time Courtney gets in trouble)
Courtney- "Sorry, Momma, I'm sorry. Do you still love me?"
Me- "I will always love you no matter how naughty you are!"
Courtney- "oh....good!"

(Me driving to the post office)
Me- "First we need to get on 17th Street..."
Courtney- "And then turn on Sunnyside?"

(Courtney being super naughty)
Me- "Do you want Daddy to come home and spank your bum? He spanks harder than I do!"
Courtney- "I know, you spank softly!"

(Courtney naming all her dances)
Courtney- "I have my snapping rose dance, and my princess ballerina dance, and my water dance, and my tiger dance..."
Me- "Can I see your tiger dance? I haven't seen that one yet."
Courtney- "No, I can't do that one for you."
Me- "Why not?"
Courtney- "Because the monsters will steal it."
Me- "The monsters will steal your dance?!"
Courtney- (frustrated, throws hands up in air) "Yes, and I don't know what to do about it!"

(Courtney and I getting the fall decor out of the basement)
Courtney- "AH! There's a ELBOW SPIDER on that sticky trap!"
Me- "Oh, yucky, that's a hobo spider."
Courtney- "Yah, a Elbow Spider!"

(Courtney helping me decorate with the fall decor, she places a scarecrow in a chair)
Courtney- "There, now let's take a step back and have a look. Lovely! It looks so good in this room!"

10 Week Challenge

My very good friend and old college roommate and I recently did a 10 week challenge where we had to work for points and earn them by making healthy choices (healthy eating, exercise, taking multivitamin, water, etc). We decided to make things interesting and said that if she won, I would make her girls some flower clips and headbands. And if I won, she would make Courtney a dress. So after ten weeks were up, we added up our total points, and we were only 10 points off from each other! (notice how i'm not saying who was ten points ahead...*ahem*) But since we both tried so hard and came in so close, we decided we were both winners, and we both sent packages! Here's what I sent for her girls: (sorry, andrea, i stole these pics off your blog since i didn't take pics before i sent them, haha)

And here's the fabulously beautiful dress AND matching hand bag (yes, Andrea is an over achiever!) Courtney could not be happier with this dress. She is still wearing it, and I cannot get it off her. She keeps asking if it's Sunday yet so we can go to church.

Good job to both of us, Andrea, and thanks for the beautiful beautiful dress. You're the best!

Yes, I'm Very Aware....

Yes, I know it's not Fall, but you know what.... I really want it to be. I've had quite enough of this heat, and I'm ready for some nice fall weather! It is my absolute favorite season of the year, the pumpkins, the baking, the leaves, fall wardrobe {cute jackets!}, fall scentsies, I just love everything about Fall.
And though it's only August, and I'm one month early, I'm making my blog Fall! : )

Another Year Older and Wiser, too....

Last Saturday I turned 27. I'm still okay, though...I still have a good 3 years left before I'll start freaking out. And Jeremy, being the best husband ever, got me the greatest present ever!

Is that not the most adorable guitar?! Heck, even if i don't know how to play, I love packing it around just because it's so darn cute! Jeremy got me a beginner's book for now, and a Taylor Swift book for later. I'm doing pretty good. I can play all of Old McDonald Had a Farm, the first couple pages of Tears in Heaven, and a few bars of When You Say Nothing at All. I'm super good at Old McDonald though because there are SO many animals on that farm, and Courtney has to sing them ALL, which means lots of practice for me- playing the same thing over and over and over!

It was a great birthday spent with family, thanks to all who came for cake and ice cream and the gifts, you guys are the greatest!

Oh how we love summer!

Jeremy, his mom Dawn, Courtney, and I went for a drive up to....um.....(yep, that's me and directions and locations and such..) up to i have no idea where, and found the best campsite EVER! they have great fishing spots, cute little kiddie areas that are rocked around so they have their little pond, paved walkways for hiking, and a trail that goes through the mining mountain (i think). we were only there for a day trip, but are planning a camping trip there within the next couple weekends or so because it's such a great spot!

I don't know why this picture is sideways. but it's cute, none the less : )

My wonderful Mother-in-Law. I thought about posting her "butt picture" but thought she'd rather I didn't. But this one is nice : )

I didn't know there would be a cute little rocked off area for courtney to play in, so i didn't bring her swim suit... and then i wished i would have! so we ditched the shorts and went swimming in a tank top and pull up!

Jeremy caught 6 fish in about 30 minutes. Thankfully he let them all go. I was having a hard enough time as it was watching them getting hooks shoved through their heads, I would've been super sad to see Jeremy smash their heads on a rock and splice them open. (yes i'm a wimp like that)

The best (and best-looking!) husband and sweetest little girl ever. How I love my little family so!

And here's the Tetons on the drive back. What a beautiful day spent with my adorable family : )

(i just noticed there's no pictures of me! huh.... i guess that's what happens when you're the one BEHIND the camera!)

For Only $10 : )

Wal Mart is having a sale on their fabric bolts...a bolt for $5. So I picked up a black bolt, and a pink bolt, and here's what I came up with!

I made a black valance for the kitchen window

And a matching valance to go over the sliding doors

And also a table runner

Then i took the the pink satin fabric and made Courtney's bedding. The polka dots on her blanket are stuffed with batting so they're poofy : )

I'm pretty proud of this pillow, it only took about 1/2 hour to make... where as the blanket took like 3 days since I had no idea what i was doing, how to do it, and just made it up as i went!

And this picture is just cute! Courtney put tiaras on her bear and penguin because it was a 'princess tea party' : )

Blue Angels

This past weekend we went to see the Blue Angels show. They are A-MAZ-ING!! Tickets were $20 a piece, so what do we do? What all SMART people do, go find a free seat at Freeman Park and see the exact same show for free!

Court's July Funnies

Courtney- "I want green beans, but I don't want them hot. I want them cold and nasty." (then she ate an entire can of cold nasty green beans!)

Courtney- "Daddy, what did you eat that made you so big?!"

Courtney- " Wow! I had a big yawn in my mouth!"

(Courtney waiting outside bathroom door for me. I come out.)
Courtney- "Good Job, Mommy! I'm so proud of you!"

(Jeremy, Courtney, and I gardening. I squeal at a disgusting Daddy Long Leg spider)
Courtney- "Mommy, you don't like Daddy Long Legs?"
Me- "No, they're yucky!"
Courtney- "Oh... do you like Mommy Long Legs?"

(Me opening Courtney's curtains to wake her up in the morning)
Courtney- "AAH!! TURN OFF THE LIGHTS!!!"

(Courtney frustrated, yelling at a puzzle piece that wasn't fitting, tries jamming it in over and over, finally realizes where it goes)
Courtney- "Oh...haha, I was just kidding."
Me- (laughing!)
Courtney- "Hey! Don't laugh about it!"

(Courtney making grumpy face.... me copying her)
Courtney- "Hey, don't be making a mad face!"
Me- "Why not?"
Courtney- "Because I want to be mad all by myself!"

(Jeremy waiting for Courtney to climb out of her car seat)
Jeremy- "Today, Slowpoke!"
Courtney- "No, in 14 days, silly!"

(Courtney eating purple nerds)
Me- "What are you eating?"
Courtney- "Purple Nurple Moose Poops."

Me- "Why don't you read Blackie a story?"
Courtney- "Mom, you know I don't know how to read!"

Courtney- "Once upon a time there was Blackie who went for a walk and saw a BEE-UUUUTIFUL butterfly, it was so pretty and Blackie followed it and caught it and put it in the fridge to eat for later!"

(Me trying to dress her)
Courtney- "STAY BACK! I'm warning you!"

(Me giving the 1...2...3 warning)
Me- "One...."
Courtney- (Shaking whole arm and finger at me) "And if you say TWO and if you say THREE then i will SMACK YOUR BUM!!"

(during a thunderstorm, Ruger pawing at the door trying to get in)
Courtney
- "Stop jumping on the door, Ruger. Go in your house, you little baby!"

Gone Fishin'

Saturday afternoon we packed up and headed for Blackfoot Reservoir to do some fishin'. Courtney was super excited to get her very own princess tackle box and fishing pole!

Courtney literally sat there for at least an hour staring at the water and reeling her pole in over and over and over! Even I don't have the patience for that! She's such a good little fisherkid!

If you ask Courtney what she caught, she'll tell you, "I caught mossy fish, but we didn't cook them for dinner because that would be yucky."

We then walked around part of the reservoir and did some exploring. This was a pretty darn cool tree.

Courtney discovered some amazing feathers.

After fishing, we hiked up to Forty Horse Cave (which dang near KILLED us!). I didn't take my camera because i can guarantee it would've come back in pieces. That was the rockiest steepest hike ever. I crawled up most of it on all fours, and slid back down most of it. Having Jeremy carry Courtney up and down that about gave me a heart attack.

At the bottom of Forty Horse Cave was a stream, with these silly little creatures stuck to all the rocks. They're some sort of sluggish bug that faces towards the current so they can feed on what's going past them. They have little black bodies that can come at least partly out of their outer shell. Very odd!

There was a couple with their 3 little kids playing in the stream when we got down. And strangely enough (for those of you who know Courtney and how she hates strangers) she just up and made best friends with one of the little girls!

It was quite an adventurous day with lots of stopping on the sides of dirt roads to break out the Froggy Potty so Courtney could 'get her peeps out'. : )
