2 Reasons to Smile

Reason #1:
Oh how can you not, looking at these squishy chubby cheeks? My little man is now 7 weeks old and he's totally melting our hearts. He is such a funny little guy. Today while nursing him in our quiet cozy living room, with only the sound of the rustling leaves out the windows, I was enjoying the peaceful fall atmosphere, contemplating how lucky I was to be blessed with such a beautiful completely amazing little family, when all of a sudden, my teeny tiny adorable Alex....completely rips a huge one! (think truck-drivers, lumberjacks, the like). He then looks up at me with a great big wide open grin on his face as if to say, "Aren't you so proud of me, Mom?!" My little man.
Reason #2:
Jeremy had told Courtney it was okay to pick the flowers out of our flower beds since it's getting so cold and they're going to freeze anyway, so Pick-Away she does. She picks them daily and brings them to me with a huge smile on her face and tells me, "I picked you a bouquet because I love you!"
Such a simple thing, but it totally brightens my day :) And how cute are those little bouquets in her little tea cups? And yes, her pants are little, too. I can't believe how fast this girl is growing! Looks like another pair of jeans to add to the 'give back to jazzy' pile. *sigh*

Dance Dance Baby!

My Beautiful Babes

These pictures make me laugh :)

Moments that Melt my Heart

Daddy's Cake

This is out of order, but Jeremy's birthday is 2 days after Courtney's, and he wanted a chocolate cake. So that's what Courtney and I made him. Chocolate fudge cake with chocolate cream cheese frosting, ever so prettily decorated with chocolate sprinkles and chocolate chips. Courtney was pretty pleased with her artwork.

Happy Birthday, Courtney!!

This month my baby girl turned 4!! With all the excitement and hecticness and busy-ness we had swirling around our house with Alex being born just weeks before, I hadn't planned on having a 'friends' birthday party. I figured we'd have family over that night for cake and ice cream and call it good.
Well... that plan would've been just fine had it not been for this sweet little excited face, just 2 days before her big day, that started talking non-stop about how all her friends were coming over and the games they were going to play and how much fun they were going to have. Apparently she thought she was getting a friends party. *Sigh* So here's me, frantically calling all the mommies trying to come up with an available guest list, and running around like crazy to come up with a party. Here's the Final Results. (keep in mind...i had NO time to plan any of this!)

These are Courtney's two little friends that live on our street, Ava and Tyree. Playing in Courtney's bedroom while waiting for the rest of the guests to arrive.
I came up with a few games, some worked, others they just stared at me. At one point Courtney actually asked, and I quote, "Mom...when are going to get to the fun part?"
*sigh*
But they liked this one. Pin the Horn on the Unicorn.
(Don't judge my artwork, this was drawn 15 minutes before the party started in quite a hurry!)

All the kids got to pick out a balloon and decorate it.
My adorable little chunker nephew, Chance :)
This is my good friend Megan and her two little kids, Isabelle and Hyrum. And of course, my little monkey in the bouncer.
My sister, Melina. Dear sweet Melina, who when Courtney's 'kitty' balloon...unexpected blew up in her face and she had a complete meltdown, drew her a new kitty balloon and saved the day!
All the kids having Halloween cupcakes and ice cream cones. (I still feel bad for sending Ava home with black frosting and permanent black marker all over her light pink leotard and tutu. Sorry Katy!!)
Brigham called Courtney 'crazy'.... resulting in 'stink face'
But it's nothing chocolate and ice cream can't fix :)
Ava
Tyree
Isa
Jaz
And Corny the Horny Unicorn. Get it? Horny? Because she has lots of horns.... ha!
After her friends party, we had a little family get together for cake and ice cream. She picked out her cake, but we totally spaced it on candles.....
So she got to blow out 4 matches!
Here she is with her birthday loot. Littlest Pet Shop and My little Ponies galore!
She went to bed one happy little girl. :)

September Funnies

(In My Defense.... having a brand new newborn in the house, I haven't been as readily available to write down all of Courtney's funnies as she says them, and then I forget them, so here's just a few!)
(At a church dinner in the gym- everyone folding arms, heads bowed to bless the food, Courtney walks into the gym and sees everyone...)
Courtney- "Hey! WAKE UP!"
(Me laying flagstone rocks along the front edge of our deck, stand back to see final result)
Me- "How's that look?"
Courtney- "A little bit cute...a little dorky... but mostly just dorky."
(Me frowning in mirror at post-baby body)
Courtney- "Come on, Mom... give us a smile!"
(Watching a show on t.v.)
Courtney- "Do you think he's handsome?"
Me- "Nope."
Courtney- *sigh* "I think he's handsome."
