April Funnies

Me- "I love you more than ice cream."
Courtney- "I love you more than potties... clean ones!"
Me- "I love you more than Christmas!"
Courtney- "I love you more than the crack in my head!"
Me- 'Oh...is that what happened??"
Courtney- "Yah, but don't tell anyone."

Courtney- "Daddy, you're a macaroni and cheese knee floatie!"
Jeremy- "You're crazy, where you do come up with this stuff?"
Courtney- "Oh, it's just in my blood."

Me- "Would you like some chocolate covered popcorn?"
Courtney- "No, that's not healthy! I need food that's good for me!"

(Me in bathroom with door open a tiny crack, Courtney walks by and slams it shut)
Courtney- "You need to learn how to shut the door when you go potty!"

(Me giving her hugs)
Courtney- "Oh mom! Careful! You're going to pop me into little balloon pieces!"

Me- "Let's go get your sugar buggies and get ready for bed."
Courtney- "No! I don't go to bed til eight and thirty and the dot to dot!"

Courtney- "Once upon a time there was a beautiful princess and she went on a walk."
Me- "Where to? The magical waterfalls?"
Courtney- "No."
Me- "The forbidden forrest?"
Courtney- "No."
Me- "The mystical meadows?"
Courtney- "No, she just went to the race tracks."

Courtney- "Two little pigs hopped in their car and drove to the market to buy pineapple and bacon. They paid for it with money from their piggy banks 'cause they're pigs!"

It's a BOY!!

I knew it! I've been telling everyone since day one that this is a boy, I knew it!

The ultrasound went really well. He was so fun to watch squirm and wiggle, and flip and somersault, wave, suck his thumb, and show off. And I mean SHOW OFF! At one point the ultrasound technician said, "Okay, that's enough! I don't want to see your pee pee no more! Yes, we know you're a boy!" It was really funny, every time she would move the ultrasound tool to try and look at something else, he would flip and turn and rotate so that he would be on display again. He wanted to make good and sure he didn't come home to a pink bedroom!

He's measuring in at 12 ounces, when the average 20 weeks along baby weighs 10 ounces. And he's looking mighty long as well. So he's going to be a big boy!

One of my favorite parts was when he pressed his little foot right up against the ultrasound tool, and we got to see each and every teeny tiny little toe in detail. So stinkin' adorable!!

I got the ultrasound results back the next day (which was super fast! they told me 2-3 weeks!) and everything is perfect. Everything has formed/is forming exactly as it should, all the measurements are perfect, nothing to give them any concern. So that's awesome!

She wasn't able to print out any pictures for some reason, but they gave me a CD with every picture that she took. We were pretty excited to come home and post pictures until we actually got home and realized our computer won't open it up. At all. Boo! So if we ever figure out a way to open them, I'll post pics then :)

Easter Morning!

Waiting super patiently while the Easter Bunny does his thing in the backyard!

Oh-A-Huntin' we will go! Easter egg hunting, that is.

Checking out the goods.

And then off to church. Don't I look so pretty?

I think so!

Why yes, that is chocolate on my face :)

After church we went to Grandma's house again for Easter Dinner, and then off to Oma's house for another Easter Egg Hunt. We had a great day!

Happy Easter, Everybody!

Beaver Dick Park

On our way out to my parents' house yesterday, we stopped at Beaver Dick Park to enjoy some nature. We walked probably 2 miles around Cartiers Slough, then played on the toys back at the park. That was a long walk with Courtney's little legs and my big belly. We were hoping to see some wildlife, but the closest we got was to see a dead (headless?) moose that had been poached and thrown in the river, and a dead squirrel. We did hear a lot of birds on our walk though!

Courtney was a good sport after we got past the moose and deer and horse poops. She would do a little fairy prancing tippy toe dance around them while complaining there were poops everywhere and she wanted to be carried.

Add ImageShe would get really excited to hear or see a bird. She would make us stop to listen and then point to where the noise was coming from. Such a little nature girl ;)

Baby Bumps!

Here's Katy and I, me working on week 19 and Katy with only a few weeks left! I told her I wanted a picture of us together because I wanted to stand next to somebody and be the 'skinny' one :)

Pregnancy Stupids

Ah, the pregnancy stupids. As if getting fat wasn't bad enough, we lucky women have been ever so blessed to have the pregnancy stupids accompany us on this joyful journey.

My first encounter with the sneaky little suckers happened before I even knew I was pregnant. (Yes, they hop on board that quickly!) I was in the kitchen making Courtney some cookies. I had everything in the bowl and was ready to stir. I had my shiny silver beaters awaiting their use on the counter. All I needed was my trusty beater machine to get the party going. I pulled it out of my kitchen cupboard and I distinctly remember staring at the darn thing for a full 7 seconds, truly puzzled why there was no where to pop in the beaters. Of course there was no where to pop them in. I had pulled out the can opener. Beaters= white. Can Opener= Black. They look NOTHING alike.

My sister, who was pregnant at the time, totally called it. I had made a post on facebook about it, and her comment was, "I think you're pregnant!" She would know, she had them, too. And unbeknownst to me, I surely truly 100% was.

I experience these treasured little moments on a daily basis, my latest one last night being this:

I'm sitting on the couch, completely engrossed in the story line, not really paying much attention to much else because I'm so involved. Courtney comes out of her room wanting a snack. I tear myself away from the currently unfolding plot line, and do my pregnant waddle to the kitchen to find my 3 year old her requested snack. A little baggie of colored goldfish and a capri sun juice pouch later, I shuffle back to my comfy spot on the couch and turn the t.v. on. I'm now flipping like mad through the channels, upset that I'm missing my movie and I'm not going to know how the story line turns out. (Yes, pregnant women are emotional and dumb little things upset us.) 4 minutes. 5 minutes. 6 minutes. I'm really quite frustrated at this point. I sigh in resignation and let my eyes cast downward in defeat as I'm sure I've missed the end the show now. While wallowing in my pitiful sorrow, my eyes fall upon my book. My Book. Oh yes, that's what I was doing.

My (non) super sympathizing husband gets a good laugh out of these ever so present moments that like to creep up on me out of nowhere and smack me on the hiney. I, however, find them less amusing. For approximately 2 seconds, I considered doing monthly blog posts of my 'pregnancy stupids' similar to Courtney's monthly 'funnies', until I mentally kicked myself and asked myself how stupid I really was. What on this beautiful earth, I ask, would ever possess me to want to remember these things?? I think the Lord helps us forget these memories, as He does with the pain of childbirth, so we will willingly raise our hands with a smile on our face, and volunteer to do it all over again. Were we in the state of mind that we could truly remember what uncomfortable waddling dummies we turn into, I highly doubt my hand would be the first in the air to relive it all over again.

So, I join hands with every other pregnant woman out there, and I suck it up. I accept the fact that I will be completely at the mercy of these pregnancy stupids until my precious little angel makes his/her long awaited appearance. And even then, I believe we are still cursed with the occasional aftershock of the stupids to remind us they will always be there lurking, and will always be forever with us, ready to emerge in full force with our next anticipated bundle of joy.
