Gone Fishin'

Saturday afternoon we packed up and headed for Blackfoot Reservoir to do some fishin'. Courtney was super excited to get her very own princess tackle box and fishing pole!

Courtney literally sat there for at least an hour staring at the water and reeling her pole in over and over and over! Even I don't have the patience for that! She's such a good little fisherkid!

If you ask Courtney what she caught, she'll tell you, "I caught mossy fish, but we didn't cook them for dinner because that would be yucky."

We then walked around part of the reservoir and did some exploring. This was a pretty darn cool tree.

Courtney discovered some amazing feathers.

After fishing, we hiked up to Forty Horse Cave (which dang near KILLED us!). I didn't take my camera because i can guarantee it would've come back in pieces. That was the rockiest steepest hike ever. I crawled up most of it on all fours, and slid back down most of it. Having Jeremy carry Courtney up and down that about gave me a heart attack.

At the bottom of Forty Horse Cave was a stream, with these silly little creatures stuck to all the rocks. They're some sort of sluggish bug that faces towards the current so they can feed on what's going past them. They have little black bodies that can come at least partly out of their outer shell. Very odd!

There was a couple with their 3 little kids playing in the stream when we got down. And strangely enough (for those of you who know Courtney and how she hates strangers) she just up and made best friends with one of the little girls!

It was quite an adventurous day with lots of stopping on the sides of dirt roads to break out the Froggy Potty so Courtney could 'get her peeps out'. : )

Sounds so fun! I can't believe Courtney fished for that long- my kids won't do anything for an hour... except sleep :)

Fishing with little kids is the best!
That "hike" sounds awful! More like rock climbing.
Glad she made a little friend. So cute!

I cannot believe I haven't commented on these posts yet. I looked at them and thought I said something, but that's just pregnancy brain, right? That's so fun you get to do all these things together as a family. What a little princess fishergirl.
