Wonder of Wonders, a MIRACLE!

Today was our first Sunday in our new ward. Remember how Courtney never EVER even once let me leave her side all throughout nursery OR sunbeams in our last ward? Remember how in nursery she wouldn't even leave my lap? Remember the meltdowns that would occur if I tried to be sneaky and even just hide around the corner while still INSIDE the nursery room? I do.

That's why I thought our Rexburg ward would be worse being the very first Sunday, and none of us knowing anyone. We sat through Sacrament Meeting, and everything was fine. I asked her at one point, "Would you like some goldfish crackers?" to which she replied, "No, I just want to make new friends." Aww! She was so darn excited to meet her new friends in sunbeams, that's all she could talk about.

So we go into primary, and sit with her class. She has the best teachers ever! The woman is probably my age with a girl a year older than Courtney, a boy in Courtney's sunbeam class, and a new baby. Courtney LOVES her. The other teacher is this woman's father, who is such a goofball, and Courtney just loves him as well! She did AWESOME in singing time. She sang all the songs, jumped up when everyone else did, and totally played along in all the games and did all the song actions.

Then we went to Sunbeams Class. I asked Courtney if I could go get a drink and she said that would be alright. So I went out in the hall for probably 20 minutes before Courtney decided she wanted me back, (she just calmly asked if the teacher could go get me). So I stepped back in for probably 30 seconds and said I needed to go potty really really bad. She said I wasn't allowed to go potty, but that I could go get another drink. So I stepped outside and waited in the foyer... and I swear she didn't even realize I was gone. She stayed in sunbeams as happy as could be just playing with the other kids and getting along and listening to the teacher and being such a good little sunbeam the whole time! THE WHOLE TIME. I sat in that foyer for over an hour waiting for her to start crying for me, and nothing. NOTHING! When Jeremy and I went to pick her up after class, she had a big grin on her face and wanted to show up the fish she made and tell us all about sunbeams and her new friends.

Oh My Hallelujah. It's a miracle.

On the way out after church as everyone was leaving, the male teacher saw Courtney and said, "Hey Courtney!" She got a big grin and said hello, and he stuck his knuckles out for a fist bump. And. She. Did. Yep!! Who is this outgoing child and where did my shy little girl go?

I'm certainly not going to complain though!

Good for you! What a relief that she is loving it there. I'm with your mom, if Courtney can make friends that easily so can you. Have fun!

What a relief! She is so funny. It is fun to see them get excited to go to primary. It is the best place to be in the whole church....(If you're a kid)
